Divisione Tecnologie e metodologie per la salvaguardia della salute

The Health Protection Technology Division (SSPT-TECS), with its labs housed in the Casaccia Research Center, performs innovation and research activities in the field of biotechnology, radiation biology and toxicology, with applications on biomedicine industrial development, and human health protection.
Main goals are:

TEB Laboratory performs multidisciplinary research in classic and molecular radiobiology, experimental oncology and carcinogenesis, molecular immunology, molecular basis of chronic inflammatory diseases, biological effects and clinical applications of electromagnetic fields, and on the use of natural compounds for human and animal health protection.

The Laboratory of Health and Environment (SAM) deals with the impact of environmental factors on the aetiopathogenesis of human chronic diseases and aging. By taking advantage of an integrated in vivo-in vitro-in silico (molecular dynamics) experimental approach, the laboratory explores the cellular and molecular mechanisms –with a particular focus on epigenetics- underlying the interaction between the environment and the biological systems. The Laboratory can also offer multiple expertise for epidemiological studies and risk assessment analysis in order to evaluate the environmental impact on human health.
